San Francsco Giants - 2010 World Series Champions

The San Francisco Giants have FINALLY won the WORLD SERIES. For all you people that don't know what the world series is. Its basically the Championship game of the MLB. Just like the Super Bowl for the NFL is the Championship game of the NFL. The World Series is MLB Championship games. Its a 7 game series. Its the NL Champion versus the AL Champion. This season for the Giants was crazy. We started off in 1st placed. Then dwindled down to 2nd place behind the San Diego Padres all season. It was up and down, up and down. And then finally at the end the last 3 games were it. We beat the Padres and when on to the NLDS. We slaughter Atlanta ins a 3-1 games won in the NLDS. Then onto the Philadelphia Phillies! We beat them 4-2! That was a really good series. It was amazing hanging out with fans cheering on the Giants during this series. Finally in the World Series EVERYONE was watching it. I remember ditching work just to watch the game. I went to game 5 which was played in Texas. So they showed it on the big screen since it was a clinching game outside City Hall. And we went CRAZY when they won. All of San Francisco was partying. It was awesome to witness this. It great to be in a city that has a World Series Champion. We haven't won a championship since 1956 and the last time San Francisco won any kind of championship was in the Superbowl in 1994. Which is almost 16 years ago. (Im 21 now. I was 6 when that happened!)

Sorry for not splitting everything into paragraphs. I was just so excited when I posted this.

Also sorry for not updating this regularly. Im going to try to update this more now that I have more time on my hands. =)

49ers vs. Raiders

Ok, Im going to admit it. I like the Raiders. Honestly I want the Raiders to do good. I grew up in San Francisco and I love the 49ers, don;t get me wrong. But I love ALL of our Bay Area teams. And that includes the A's and Raiders.

What I like about the Raiders is their fan base. 49ers are always talking about being "Faithful". Well thats a bunch of bullshit. I mean San Francisco fans are just bandwagon's in the first place. When the 49ers do good, people watch them, when they do bad, people stop watching them. Now look at the Raiders. They sucked for how many season? And look how at how FAITHFUL their fans REALLY are. They actually go to the games and they have A LOT of pride for their team. So what if they are obnoxious? 49er fans are like that too.

Another thing I like about the Raiders is their coaching style. When Tom Cable sees something wrong, he acts upon it. Perfect example, Jamarcus Russell. We all know of how much he was a waste of money to the team. After his first season, they got rid of him. Mike Singletary on the other hand gives out MANY MANY chances. How many chances does Alex Smith get? He's been in the NFL for super long and he STILL sucks. They should just get rid of him. Obviously he's not getting the job done. Another perfect example of the Raiders coaching. First home game against the Rams in 2010, Jason Campbell was not doing great, took him out in the 2nd half and put in Bruce Gradowski (Sorry for the spelling.) and they ended up winning. Why keep Alex Smith in the game for the whole day, when all he is going to do is suck.

Imma continue to love the 49ers, but Im also going to watch the Raiders. I don't care what all you people say about it. Oakland and San Francisco are not enemies. They aren't even in the same league! So stop hating and love the sport for what it is!

Raider Nation

Alright, for most of you that know me, Im a big sports fan. (duh) All I ever talk about is watching sports and this and that about sports. So I love the Niners. Don't get me wrong. But heres a secret. I also like the Raiders to. Why? Well I grew up in the bay area, so I love ALL the Bay Area teams. (And yes that includes the Raiders and A's). I don't get this whole hype about the Niners fans hating on the Raiders fans. We aren't even in the same league. I can see how the Giants hate on the Dodgers, they are league rivals. But the Niners and Raiders don't play in the same league. Sure they have inter league games (when two different teams from different leagues play together) and yes thats when Ill definitely go for the Niners (as I am from San Francisco, so Niners all the way. But I wont hate on the Raiders) Yea the Raiders suck. So do the Warriors, and we all know we still love them. The A's suck too but hey they got some really good deals on tickets. Free Parking on Tuesdays. Double Play Wednesdays ($2 Plaza Reserved Tickets and $1 Hot Dogs! You CANNOT reject deals like that)

Im going to continue to being a Raider fan. Im going t my first raiders games with my girl friend at the end of October. I never been to one cause I never had the time (or the money) It cant be as bad as everyone says they are. Niners fans are pretty obnoxious. Raiders fans cant be that bad. Oakland needs the rest of the Bay Area support too. We all know the fans are a big part of a teams success.

My Sporting Goal

As you guys all know, I love sports. I like to play but I also like to watch pro sports teams. I love Baseball, Basketball, Football, Hockey (In that order). I love all the Bay Area teams and my goal is to visit ALL MLB Ballparks. I counted and theirs exactly 30. So far I seen 2 (San Francisco and Oakland. haha duh) so I got 28 more to go. Its not as hard as it seems. Most States have 2 teams (New York, Texas, Florida, Chicago. California has 5.) So its not as hard as it seems. After Im done with the MLB. I want to do Basketball and Hockey. I chose to do them together because its during the same timeframe for the season and most teams play in the same arena. Then finally I want to do the NFL, but its harder cause each team only has 8 home games and football is CRAZY expensive.

Collecting

One of my hobbies is to collect. I don't know why but I love to collect different things. I guess you can say Im like a pack rat. So here area  few of my collections.

I have a small stamp collection. The stamp collection was started by my moms younger brother. He passed away but my mom saved his stamp collection. I guess I liked it so much I continued it and just kept it. Haven't been getting any stamps lately (who the heck send out mail now a days) if i ever do get mail its already pre paid by the company and theirs no stamp on it. And I don't want to buy them either.

Another thing I collect is coins. Foreign and U.S coins. I don't have much in this collection. I started with the 50 state quarters that was issued in 1999. This is when they released 5 coins a year for 10 years so you can get all 50 states. Yes I waited 10 year to finish this collection. For my foreign currency, I only have a few countries that ive been to/my mom has been to like Taiwan and Europe. So its not that big, but as I travel I will get more.

I also collect a few childish things. Dont laugh now. But I got a nice collection San Francisco Giants Bobbleheads and Memorabilia Collection. Most of them are SGA (Stadium Give Aways) that are only 20,000 made (well thats what they say..) This one is harder to get cause people are always selling these for like $30 - $50 depending on how rare they are and when they were released. I got a good collection going, I got around 14 - 15 already. My goal is to get a display case and display all my bobbles and signed balls and pictures and whatnot. A display case for the Giants haha.

And finally, my last collection, and something that I just started. Pokemon Cards. Yes you read that right, Pokemon Cards. Why you may ask? Cause I loved Pokemon when I was a child. So I wanted to restart my collection (since I sold it a while ago) just to relive my childhood. And its cheaper. I just bought like a whole mess of Pokemon cards for like $20 off Ebay. Ill let you know when its done! (Note: I'm only collecting the first 150 Pokemon, not like other 5304802938402980 Pokemon they got out now.)

Fung Lum

Some of you may ask what is Fung Lum? Well its the place I work at. I've been working there since April 09'. Its basically a chinese restaurant located in the San Francisco International Terminal. Is it good? Its decent but VERY expensive. As I worked there, saw and met many different kind of people. (Mostly asians, but their were a few non asians.) I really love all my co workers to be quite honest. My manager is quite cool as well. Well next Thursday is my last day there cause I found a new job (which I will blog about later) Overall it was a great experience to work there. Kind of hard work. Its basically like your basic Panda Express style, entree with noodles. Then you got the special orders and Dim Sum.

I really liked this job. Got stressful sometimes, and of course their were the drama moments. But overall I will miss it.

Craigslist Tips

For the past few years Ive been doing a lot of buying and selling on craigslist. I've sold Ipods, Video Games, Movies, CDs, you name it I probably sold it. Craigslist is basically an online advertisement. You can post jobs, sales, rants, and other useless stuff. Its pretty cool to go through when your bored or to find cheap deals.

But in order to use craigslist, theirs a few unmentioned rules. Well not really rules, more like common sense things. This isn't Ebay where you pay through paypal and the seller ships out the package. Nope. Its usually done with CASH ONLY (Paypal at your discretion) and in person. Below Im going to mention a few rules, and terminology people should know and be aware about when using craigslist.

Terminology:
OBO - Or Best Offer
BNIB - Brand New In Box (NIB, same thing)

1) Know what you selling: At least have a general description of what the product is. Saying "10 dvds for sale" and thats it. in the post (which I have really seen before) doesnt really tell me anything. Are they 10 dvds of your personal sextapes or what? At least take the time to say what the dvds are and maybe the format and the condition

2) Know the difference between "brand new" and "like new": I cannot emphasize this even more, its important to know that BRAND NEW means never used in the box. When you go to target and buy your underwear its BRAND NEW. Like New is opened and maybe used once. Close to new you can say, but its not BRAND NEW. Would you like the BRAND NEW boxers or the Like New boxers? come on just be honest. I hate it when I read "Brand New video game" then it goes on and it says "It was opened and played ONCE so its brand new." Thats not Brand New thats LIKE NEW. Know the difference.

3) When posting a want ad, make sure you really want it!: This one I just added on the top of my mind since recently some woman posted on craigslist she wanted a cheap router asap. I responded and I told her I had one. Gave her ALL the info about it. Then she calls me and says she really interested and blah blah. Gave her more info. Then she tells me she doesn't need it and buys a new one at Best Buy. I mean WTF? Don't waste my time on this crap. I did this all for $25.

4) On the note of wasting time. Don't waste people time: Craigslist is for people who want to make a quick few dollars off old things. No one likes email tag. So send a number right when you respond so that person can call you back. For me I check my email once and hour when Im home or so. Some people don't have internet access and check it once a day. Understandable, so just leave a number so they can call you. It will make the process go faster. You can work out all the details then set up a place to meet. Also don't FLAKE. No one likes a flaker. Don't say you want to buy it, set up a meeting then call them 20 min before you guys are set to meet and tell them you don't want it. I hate flakers, no one likes a flake.

5) Finally, be fair and reasonable on everything: Be fair on everything going on in the deal. Be fair with the price. Most of the shit your selling is probably going to be used, don't ask for retail prices. And if your the buyer and your going to bargain, don't lowball. Its hard to sell and buy on craigslist. The buyer always wants the most money and the seller always wants the lowest price. Its hard to be in the middle. Just how life is. So be reasonable. Also be fair on the meeting place. Don;t always ask people to come to your house. I don't give a flying hoot if your a doctor and you cant get out of your job. I had people tell me they are super busy that they cant meet up with me outside of their house. Thats a load of bullshit. What are you trying to say? I don't have a life either? The world doesn't revolve around you. Meet up in a public place to be safe. And if someone is coming from far away, meet up half way. Don't be a douche.

So these 5 tips should really help you on your next Craigslist's deal. Craigslist is great if your not a moron. Just be safe and find the deals!

San Francisco: My Home!

San Francisco, California is my hometown (well in this case city) I love San Francisco and everything about it. The food, the culture, the events, the people, etc. San Francisco is filled up with so much rich history and to be totally honest, I don't know anything about it.

One thing I love to do is to sightsee my own city. This may sound stupid but I love to take tours of San Francisco, even being a native to San Francisco you can learn so much from it. Im not trying to be a tourist in my own town but through tours and other sightseeing adventures you learn new things about San Francisco.

I have a list of museums that are located in San Francisco that I want to visit. I only visited like 4 of the so far, but most of them are fairly cheap ($6 or so for student rates, and you can also get discounts if you take public transit, which I do) I really just want to learn more about my hometown. It sucks when someone asks you a question about your city and you dont know the answer for it. And also through taking these tours and doing new things in the city that I normally dont do, shows me another side of SF than just partying and having fun.

Tomorrow Im planning on going to the Asian Art Museum to check out their collection there and maybe go out for lunch. I got nothing to do so might as well enjoy myself! =)

Bar Hopping

So last year I wrote a review about San Francisco School of Bartending. So obviously I like the bar scene (why would I attend a bartending school) anyways so in bartending school we learned how to make approximately 120 different drinks such as Manhattans, Martinis, Screwdrivers, Mudslides, etc. So my goal is to try EVERY one of those drinks we learned how to make. Now theirs many variations different bars use to make the drink. But I just want to try the basic form on each drink. (If Im going to be a bartender, I gotta know my drinks)

Their are many different types of bars you got your clubs, strip clubs, and my favorite dive bars. I love dive bars cause of two main reasons 1) they are very cheap and reasonably priced drinks and 2) a dive bar gives the bar a more intimate feeling, theirs not as much people as a club and you can still have fun.

Yea I know drinking is bad for you, as long as you drinks responsible then your good. Don;t drink and drive, don't try to start shit with anyone at the bar and you can have a fun time. And if your totally shit faced and wasted then leave, go home, take an aspirin and sleep it off. I don't care if you drink, just be safe and don't be stupid about it.

Bum Bum Bum

No, the title is not some symphony written by Beethoven. I really wanted to blog about bums, well a nicer form would be homeless people. You see them everywhere in San Francisco specifically in Downtown and the Embacadero. In my opinion there are 2 types of homeless people. 1) people who are homeless who put in the effort to try to get money (street entertainers, musicians, magicians, etc..) and 2) beggars (you know what I mean people sitting there with signs saying "my wife has been held ransom and I need money" and they don't even greet you or just people walking around asking for spare change). Sometimes theirs a guy with one leg on crutches asking for money. But still we see it ALL the time.

I was in downtown a month ago with a friend. And me and her were minding our own business and just walking and this homeless guy (I think he was) asked us for money. I POLITELY said I'm sorry and I don't have any spare change. VERY POLITELY. He goes around and says something like "I know you got change blah blah" I'm like WTF?

I respect those street entertainers who perform on the streets to get money. You see a lot of them at Pier 39. Like the silver and gold man, Bush man, I even saw a white dancing dude. Even sometimes I see families performing together and Ill drop a dollar or two. I mean they totally deserve it more than these worthless beggars. They can AT LEAST greet you with a "Hello" or "God Bless" instead of just have a sign around their neck.

Also, I believe some of these dudes are faking it too. I was near the Ferry Building and I was buying lunch at this Gerek place. And I walked to the corner to go back to BART and this guy was like "Oh wait hold on...*pulls out his sign from under his neck* do you have any spare change?" WOW. I didn't give him a dime. I bet you half these people asking for money aren't even homeless

Current Events: Prop 8

Alright guys heres some current events. For those that dont know what current events are. Its basically whats going on in the world around us.

Anyways this just released on the news today: Proposition 8 overturned by judge

My opinion on this is plain wrong. Don't get me wrong, I support gay marriage. Well lets see I really dont care. I voted No on Prop 8, cause I got MANY MANY gay/lesbian friends. But in all reality gay/lesbians need love to right? So why not let them get married. I understand where the people who are voting Yes on 8 stands, I grew up in a church, I read my bible. Marriage is intended for man and women. But I think everyone deserves to be with whoever they want to be with.

Now you might ask why I think this whole thing is stupid and plain out wrong? Well we all voted on this. And it came down to being Yes. How can some judge just come and turn it all around? Is that fair? Who knows what else the government can just come and overturn after we voted on it. Its the whole principle of having a democracy. Us voters voted, fair and square. And 2 years later a judge comes around and just overturns it cause he finds it unconstitutional? (It took you 2 years to figure that out?) WOW..

Well in other news ... jk

Yelp

I dont know why but Ive been so obsessed with Yelp for the past year or so. (For those of you who dont know, yelp is an online review for basically anything you do gyms, restaurants, hotels, nightlife, things to do, and the list goes on) So far I got 124 reviews. Most of them are restaurants and shops and some services. But mostly food and stuff (yea Im fat. I know lol)

Yelp is so awesome, usually the reviews are accurate for the venue. Im always trying new places and new things now cause of Yelp. My bookmark section has over 50 bookmarks all over the bay area. So many new food places to try. Im tired of Red Robins and BJ's (2 restaurants my friends and I ALWAYS go to haha)

Well if you have yelp hit me up on there. Heres the URL to my yelp page:

http://www.yelp.com/user_details?userid=o249Gajop9PnjeUVY8ZgQw

Continue yelping peoples! I wanna continue to try new places! =)

Im Back!

Wow so I havent blogged in over a year. Yea I been busy ( bad excuse ehh? well no one reads this thing anyways, i just use it to vent and talk about whats on my mind ) anyways so Im back and Im going to make it my goal to blog at LEAST once a week (on here and on my tumblr)

So what new this year? Nothing, school and work are my main focuses now. Hanging out with friends and family of course come into play. Im working less now and having more of a social life which is good.

Some goals I have made in the past year are:
1) Continue my ballpark tour (Im a big baseball nut, so my goal is to visit every MLB baseball team/field) I only got 2 so far. (SF and Oak)
2) Try all 120 drinks I learned how to make at San Francisco School of Bartending (as of today I tried 10 total, I drink a lot of beer)
3) Use my 24 hour gym membership (got it a month ago, went to the gym 3 times so far. 3 years for $450...bright side is i dont have to worry about a gym membership until I graduate from college
4) speaking of college. Transfer to SFSU in fall 2011 and get my BA in Psychology
5) Find a new job. (closer to home, still stuck at Fung Lum at SFO)

Well will post more rants, and things that are on my mind. Just wanted to update you with my life (well nothing new. Things never change with me. I dont like change lol) and to set some goals now. Think of it as an early new years.
